Tara Yoga Centre invites you to the 6th edition of parties dedicated to the celebration of The 10 Maha Vidyas or 10 Great Macrocosmic Powers.
What is Mahavidya? Mahavidya are a group of 10 Hindu Goddesses that we teach about in our Yoga and Tantra courses.
The term ‘Mahavidya’ is derived from two Sanskrit words: ‘Maha’ meaning ‘great’, and ‘Vidya’ meaning “knowledge” or “wisdom.” Thus, Mahavidya translates to “Great Wisdom” or “Great Knowledge.” This name reflects the profound spiritual insights and esoteric knowledge that these goddesses embody.
The ten Mahavidyas are usually named in the following sequence: Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshvari, Tripura Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamalatmika.
Each Goddess represents a specific aspect of The Supreme Wisdom, guiding devotees towards spiritual enlightenment and liberation. Collectively they are symbolising the multifaceted nature of God.
The Maha Vidya parties are an invitation to have a glimpse of the feminine principles or energies which make up the entire Universe. Each of us have a specific way in which we approach the spiritual path and the Maha Vidya’s allow us to define and deepen the path that inspires our soul in a particular form.
This series of celebrations are a joyful, interactive way to connect to the mothers of eternal wisdom, and to discover ourselves and, as a result, the universe. Next, we will meet the Great Mother of Spontaneity, Courage, Freedom and Instantaneous Enlightenment – Chinnamasta.
