In our modern civilisation we have strayed away from nature and a natural and balanced way of living. We are continuously bombarded with influences that pull us out of union with Mother Nature and a state of harmony. We ingest toxins from preservatives, pesticides and chemicals, and we are hit daily from all directions with pollution, contaminating our bodies as well as our minds. Ongoing purification is therefore essential for a harmonious and balanced life in the modern world, and to be in the state of union that is Yoga. We need to become a fertile ground for deep and meaningful revelations to blossom, and it is purification that creates that fertile soil.
