Art Initiation

Have you ever wondered how it is possible that a piece of art created hundreds of years ago can still have such a profound impact on the soul? Or why, when listening to a piece of music composed in another era, you can be brought to tears being overwhelmed by so much beauty? 

True works of art are timeless creations. They do not grow old and they do not lose their magic over time. No matter what form, what place or what century, art in its truest form, when contemplated, can bring us to ecstasy. This is the power of art, spiritual art, or as Gurdijieff (the great Armenian spiritual teacher and lover of art) called it: objective art.

If you have felt a sense of awe from art and if you have ever contemplated how this is possible, then it will not surprise you that art and spirituality have cannot be separated.

In fact, many of the great artists throughout time were spiritual initiates; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Constantin Brancusi all practised spirituality and were aware of every symbol that they placed in their art and the profound impact that it could have on our souls. Art is a transforming experience for both the creator and the viewer. It has the potential to change our lives.

We all have creativity inside us. We are all in our core, deeply spiritual beings and this, by its very nature, grants us the ability to be creative. Sublime art is the Creator’s expression of life.  

If the expression of beauty is important for you, then you are an artist. Beauty has many nuances but always brings revelations and these revelations can open up whole universes inside of us.
